What is Podiatry?
Podiatry is the worldwide recognised name for Chiropody - the name changed in 1990.
The training for podiatry is now a 3 year BSc (Hons) degree course, enabling qualified podiatrists to treat and offer advice on a wide range of foot and lower limb problems including:
General foot problems such as-
* Corns
* Callus
*Toe/nail problems (including ingrowing toenails)
*Athletes foot
Biomechanical foot assessment- which can often determine the cause of-
* Fore-foot pain
* Achilles tendon problems
* Heel pain
* Knee pain
* Shin splints
These problems can often be helped by the provision of prescription in-shoe devices (orthoses), which aim to help normal foot function.
Treatment is also available for children.
Home visits are available.
