Lecturing Profile Sudakshina`s Lecturing Profile: Helping children and young people in making educational and developmental progress has always been a vocation close to my heart. I have been fortunate enough to get the opportunities to work with young people through a variety of jobs.
Firstly, by writing and reporting issues that concern and affect young people, which also involved interviewing and empathising with them :-
Ø February 2006-August 2006:Work Placement at www.fenews.co.uk :
Ø 2003-2004: The Little Issue, Student Newspaper for
Ø 2001-2002: Voices- A weekly supplement for Indian youngsters, for "The Statesman" newspaper;
Secondly, through my role as a Temp.Careers Assistant at CfBT Advice & Guidance and Connexions (Hounslow branch August 2005-April 2006) which enabled me to:- Ø Provide Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) to young people, aged 16-19 years on their career options.
Ø Visit local schools to deliver presentations on Post-16 career options and CV-writing workshops.
Ø Being able to develop a professional relationship based on empathy and honesty was something I learned to do, so as to help young people make vital decisions on their futures. Thirdly, I also got the brief chance to experience and work in educational administration. My role as Temporary Timetabling Administrator at
As you will glean from this website, I have been a Lecturer in Journalism and Media Studies at The London College, University College Kensington (LCUCK); which is based at Notting Hill Gate, London, between Sept 2007-August 2009. I have enjoyed this job for two key reasons:- Ø I got to teach the very subjects I graduated in (BA Hons (2:1) New Media Journalism with Film & TV Studies; Thames Valley University, 2002-2005) which allows me to merge my academic knowledge and work experience together, enabling me to develop my career further. I organised and delivered lectures in Journalism, Production Management, Mass Communications, Advertising, Public Relations and Dissertation Writing. I also assessed students through homework, in-class exercises and modular assignments.
Ø As the classes are smaller in number, I found that I could give students individual and group attention quite easily, when needed. This facilitated better scope for students to make progress in understanding and applying the concepts taught.
So, here is a profile of the Subjects I Lecture/Tutor in:-
At Further Education and Higher Education Levels:- Journalism Media Studies Creative Writing English Language English Literature Media Production Management Advertising Campaign Management Psychology Online Public Relations Research Methods (incl. Writing Research Proposals) Dissertation Writing Political Science CV-Writing and Interviewing Basic Counselling Skills
Since Feburary 2010, I have been a Sessional Lecturer in Psychology for A Level and Access Courses at Kingston College of Further Education.

I am at a stage of my career where I would like to give it a clearer definition and structure. After reviewing the work I have done so far, it did not take me long to realise that having a career in teaching and education–alongside my journalistic commitments- is what would give me the most satisfaction. I strongly hope and intend to reciprocate this satisfaction to the educational institution I work in and with.
